Question 1: Thank you for accepting to talk to our team at OurTimes. We are thrilled to have you. Please tell the readers a little bit about yourself.

Sochan Kikon: Thank you for having me. Hi, everyone, I’m Sochan Kikon, a singer/songwriter from Nagaland.

Question 2: Share with us the early romance between you and music. How did it all start?

Sochan Kikon: From the start I never wanted to do music just for the thought of becoming famous or as such but somehow I always felt it’s something I need to do it for myself. It’s from within, the thirst, the hunger to do something different. Moreover I come from a family of many music enthusiasts starting from my grandpa then to my dad that it became obvious for me to take interests in music.

Question 3: Has rock music been the genre since the start, or did it evolve with time?

Sochan Kikon: Rock genre is something that made me take interests in music in the first place. It was and will always be the type of music that will live on in my heart.

Question 4: How has society or the music audience in Nagaland reacted to your kind of music during the initial stage of your career, and even now?

Sochan Kikon: The response out here was overwhelming as Nagaland is a place where the scene of Rock music never left, anyone in the state can confidently say it’s pretty much alive till date.

Question 5: India has a wide audience for various musical genres. Tell us about the audience and the love for rock music—do you think we have enough support for this genre across the country?

Sochan Kikon: I believe the love for Rock music in many people across the country will live on forever, it’s not just another genre but it’s a lifestyle for many and we all have witnessed it.

Question 6: Please share with us the early challenges you faced while pursuing your passion for music.

Sochan Kikon: My early challenges as a musician was to get better in my singing. Besides that I believe everything is just part of the process, the failures and the hurdles.

Question 7: What advice do you have for young singers wanting to step into your shoes and pursue progressive rock music?

Sochan Kikon: Believe in yourself as much as you believe in God. Never settle for less just keep testing your own limits, you’ll get there.

Question 8: What’s your vision, and where do you see yourself as a progressive rock singer in the next few years?

Sochan Kikon: Music is my passion and I want to leave a good legacy of myself. I want to be remembered for things that I’m doing now. And as a singer my dream is to Rock around the world.
