Born in 1993 in a village in Manipur, Jajai Singsit’s journey from working in a garage to becoming an admired country singer is nothing short of inspiring. Growing up with his father, an ex-CRPF personnel, his homemaker mother, and three younger sisters who are still pursuing their education, his path was far from conventional.
At the age of 14, he began working in a garage, driven by his passion for automobiles. Yet, it was music that truly resonated with him. “I’m afraid I can’t remember realizing it. I always reacted musically to the world around me. Since childhood, I loved singing and performed at various occasions whenever invited,” he reminisces.
While he may not have known whether his voice resembled that of Jim Reeves initially, he dedicated himself to training and hoped to sound like his idol. His dedication paid off, earning him the affectionate title of “India’s Jim Reeves,” though he humbly states, “Do I deserve to be called India’s Jim Reeves? No, not at all! But, I am thankful and happy if you called me so.”
His rendition of “May the Good Lord Bless You and Keep You” has become a fan favourite, a song he first performed in 2017 and has sung numerous times since, including at his cousin’s bridal reception. Besides Jim Reeves, Don Williams is another country singer who has significantly influenced his musical style.

Social media has played a pivotal role in his rise to recognition. Overwhelmed by the responses from fans worldwide, he acknowledges the importance of platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. “I engage with my followers through these social networking sites. I don’t really know whether I have gained popularity through these sites, but I do respond to comments whenever I can.” Fans can follow him on these platforms to stay connected with his musical journey and enjoy his latest songs and performances.
Despite the support and love from fans, his journey has not been without challenges. Financial hurdles and intense competition are just a few obstacles he faces as a musician. Yet, his family’s unwavering support has been his pillar of strength. “My family has been very supportive in my musical journey. They played a pivotal role in supporting, motivating, and nurturing me through my practice sessions.”
Currently, he is working on his original song, a testament to his dedication to his craft. To aspiring musicians, his advice is simple yet profound: “Follow your dream with perseverance if you want to make it big.”
In addition to his musical achievements, Jajai Singsit is now happily married and blessed with one beautiful daughter.
In his heartfelt message to fans, he quotes, “Where words fail, music speaks.” Music, he believes, conveys emotions and expresses feelings in ways words cannot. “I just want to give a big shout out to all my fans. I’m so grateful and thankful to one and all for your constant love and support. Big hugs and God Bless!”
From a garage in Manipur to the hearts of fans across the globe, Jajai Singsit’s story is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and the universal language of music.
