Editorial standards
These are operating rules, not aspirations. If we break one, the corrections policy below explains how we handle it.
- We report from primary sources
- Filings, dockets, datasets, and named interviews come before secondary coverage. Where we rely on another outlet, we link to it and say so in the sentence, not in a footnote.
- We publish the denominator
- A percentage without a base is not a finding. When we cite a change, we state the sample, the period, and the source. When we cannot get the base figure, we say that instead of implying precision we do not have.
- Anonymity has a cost and a reason
- We grant it when a source faces a credible professional consequence for speaking, and we tell readers what category of person is speaking and why they were granted it.
- We separate reporting from analysis
- Analysis pieces argue a position and are labelled as such. News reports do not smuggle a conclusion into the framing.
- No paid placement, ever
- We do not publish sponsored posts, affiliate-driven recommendations, or coverage arranged in exchange for access. If that ever changes, the disclosure will appear above the headline, not below the fold.
Corrections policy
We correct errors of fact promptly and visibly. A correction appears at the foot of the article, describes what was wrong and what it now says, and carries the date of the change. We do not silently edit a published claim.
Every article records its publication date and, where it has been revised, the date of the most recent revision. Both are machine-readable, so a reader or an aggregator can tell how current a piece is.
To report an error, email [email protected] with the headline and the specific sentence. Substantive disputes get a reply from the editor who handled the piece, not a form response.

Our Times Media is independently owned and operated. No political party, government body, or advertiser holds an equity stake or an editorial veto.
Revenue comes from reader subscriptions and syndication licensing. We take no sponsored content and no affiliate commission, which is why the standards above can say so without qualification.
If our ownership or funding model changes, this section is updated before the change takes effect, and the change is noted in the article footer of anything it affects.
